Analysing conflict within actor networks using DANA
نویسنده
چکیده
Dynamic Actor Network Analysis (DANA) is a software-supported method that aims to enhance an analyst’s capacity for reflection on a policy issue as a subjective social construct. The problem perceptions of actors in a policy network are represented as “perception graphs”: causal maps that show relations between goals, policy actions and external influences. Assuming rational choice, the DANA software can infer the preferred strategies of individual actors as well as those of cooperative groups. Confrontation of perceptions and strategies can reveal actor network relations such as resource dependency, conflict and coalition potential. In this paper we provide an outline of the method and position it relative to other (semi)quantitative methods, focussing in particular on the various metrics that DANA calculates to support analysis of conflict.

Semi-quantitative actor-based modelling as a tool to assess the drivers of change and physical variables in participatory integrated assessments
Integrated assessments that aim to support sustainable natural resources management require analysing how biophysical systems are impacted by human actions. These analyses are often performed by modelling the physical system, while human actions are prescribed as scenarios and introduced into the physical models by varying the model input. To achieve a more thorough analysis of the human system...
متن کاملActor-Network Procedures - (Extended Abstract)
In this paper we propose actor-networks as a formal model of computation in heterogenous networks of computers, humans and their devices, where these new procedures run; and we introduce Procedure Derivation Logic (PDL) as a framework for reasoning about security in actor-networks, as an extension of our previous Protocol Derivation Logic. Both formalisms are geared towards graphic reasoning. W...
متن کاملAutomatic Pattern Detection in Stakeholder Networks
The values and opinions of the stakeholders involved in a decision making process are the key to its outcome. Reflection on how stakeholders perceive a situation, and on the consequences of these perceptions for the decision outcome is a intellectually demanding exercise. To support analysts, we have developed a conceptual modeling tool called DANA (Dynamic Actor Network Analysis). The modeling...
متن کاملTowards holistic management of information within service networks: Safety telephone services for ageing people
The dissertation investigates information quality in multi-actor service networks. A clear connection between the quality of information and success of business has been acknowledged, but tools for analysing information quality in network environments on the basis of qualitative data have been lacking. There is also a limited understanding of information processes of virtual networks of public ...
متن کاملThe Symbiosis of Human and Semantic Technology Through the Lens of Actor-Network Theory
Background: Semantic technologies (STs) have made machine reasoning possible by providing intelligent data management methods. This capability has created new forms of interaction between humans and STs, which is called "semantic interaction." The increasing spread of this form of interaction in daily life reveals the need to identify the factors affecting it and introduce the requirements of...
